Board of Selectmen Establish Goals for 2018

Looking forward to the coming year and beyond, the Board of Selectmen was able to take some time on January 3rd and participate in a facilitated workshop meeting intent on identifying goals the Board had for the Town during 2018.

This is the second consecutive year the Board has held a goal setting meeting, and the initial effort this year was a review of the goals for 2017 and what had been accomplished.

By clicking here, you  will see the report outlining the thoughts and discussions from this goal setting session which has already been shared with department heads, boards and committees.  In addition to being posted here on the Town website, it is also being included in the 2017 Town Report to be issued in March.

The four main goals identified by the Board for the Town's colllective efforts in 2018 include:

  • Focus on potential economic development efforts by re-authorizing the Auburn Development Authority.

  • Determine the long-term future of parks and recreation efforts for the Town of Auburn through a community survey and discussion.

  • Re-focus attention and planning for a new Town storage building.

  • Re-design the Town budgeting process to provide big picture information for the Board of Selectmen and the Budget Committee before they meet with individual Town departments and boards.  This effort will include an annual update of the Town's Capital Improvement Plan.

As we move forward in 2018, we are optimistic these are goals that can be worked on and achieved or at least moved forward during the next 12 months.
