Elected Officials, 3 year terms, expiring March.

The Planning Board has a variety of functions and duties, including developing and updating the town’s master plan; working on a town capital improvements program; adopting subdivision, site plan review and driveway regulations; and proposing zoning ordinances.

With the adoption of subdivision and site plan regulations, and zoning ordinances, the Planning Board is also responsible for receiving and reviewing plans for subdivisions, commercial development and other similar land use activity to ensure that they are in compliance with the regulations and ordinances of the town.

The Planning Board also has the responsibility to nominate individuals to represent the Town to the Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission.  The Planning Board submits their nominations to the Board of Selectmen, who are then charged with making the appointment.

In 2010, the voters of Auburn chose to have the members of the Planning Board elected at the annual town elections instead of being appointed by the Board of Selectmen pursuant to NH RSA 673:2, II, (b) (2).  Board members are individually elected to office for staggered three-year terms of office.

The Planning Board consists of five voting members – four of whom are elected by the public, while the fifth is a member of the Board of Selectmen designated by the Board of Selectmen.  The Planning Board is also able to appoint up to four other individuals to serve as alternate members of the Planning Board.
