Trunk or Treat

The Parks and Recreation Department along with Safety Complex are busy planning our first annual Trunk or Treat event on Sunday, October 29th from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Safety Complex.

What is Trunk or Treat?  Trunk or Treat is a different spin on Trick-or-Treating where community members bring a car, decorate it’s trunk (or entire car) and pass out candy as kids “trunk or treat” from car to car.  Trunk or Treat is NOT replacing the traditional trick or treating but is adding another option for your family to enjoy Halloween.  Auburn town trick or treating will still be held on Sunday, October 29, 1:00-4:00 pm

Although the deadline has passed to register your car, everyone is welcome to walk in and trick or treat though all the decorated trunks.

Lil' Yogis

Children ages 3-5 are invited to join our new Lil’ Yogis program which blends yoga, play, dance, music and drama.  Your child will enjoy simple poses, games, music and breathing exercises, in a fun family atmosphere. Yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem and body awareness with a physical activity that's noncompetitive.

Our enthusiastic instructor Maura Barber is a certified Yoga Instructor for children through the YogaFit Kids program.  Maura also has a degree in Early Childhood Education, Master's Degree in Social Work and is a fitness instructor though Jazzercise since 2008.  Working with families and their children has been her focus for the past 25 years.  “I have learned that yoga is a great gift to give children. Posing and playing games with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers alongside their parent(s) is a wonderful bonding experience for all.”

Classes will be held on Thursdays starting at 9:15 am at the Safety Complex Meeting Room.   This 4 week session begins on November 30th and runs through December 21st.  The fee for this program is $40.

Preregistration is required.  Please return the registration form (found on the "Forms" tab) to:  Auburn Parks and Recreation, PO Box 309, Auburn, NH 03032 or you can drop it off at the Town Hall.  Checks can be made payable to the Town of Auburn.  Please call the Parks and Recreation office at 483-5052 x101 or email with any questions.

Operation Gratitude Halloween Candy Give Back

Wondering what you’re going to do with all that Halloween candy?  The Parks and Recreation Department is collecting your extra Halloween candy for Operation Gratitude to send to deployed troops & first responders.

Operation Gratitude annually sends 200,000+ care packages to Veterans, First Responders, New Recruits, Wounded Heroes, their Care Givers, and to individually named U.S. service members deployed overseas and their families waiting at home. The mission of Operation Gratitude is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of the Military and First Responder communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for civilians anywhere in America to express their appreciation to all who serve our nation.

We will be collecting your left-over candy October 30-November 8 at the Town Hall between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (Monday-Friday) with extended hours on Monday until 7:00 pm.  In addition to giving candy, please consider writing a letter or drawing a picture to be included in the care packages to let our heroes know you care.
