Gloucester Harbor Tour and Lunch

Thank you to all that registered for this spring’s senior trip is set for Wednesday, May 31st.  This trip is FULL.  Thank you for your quick registrations.   We are departing at 8:30 am from the St. Peter’s parking lot.   From there we will travel to Gloucester for a beautiful 90 minute tour of the harbor including 2 lighthouses and the famous fishing fleet.   Following the tour we will enjoy lunch at the Gloucester House and expect to return to Auburn by 3:30 pm. 

Senior BBQ

 The Annual Senior BBQ, for Auburn Residents age 65 and over, will be held at the Safety Complex on Saturday, August 12th at 1:00 pm.  Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, salads, drinks and ice cream will be served at no charge.  This event is always a big hit and will be even bigger this year.

 “Rock This Town” Concert Series

We are in our 5th year for the concert series.   Mark your calendars for FREE family entertainment, live music, complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers, FREE raffle and FREE popcorn.  Bring the kids to enjoy the playground and sit back and relax to the music of:

Thursday, August 17- The Bob Pratte Band - Rock & Blues

Saturday, November 4- Coffee House with The Coffee House Players at AVS school café. 

The June and August Concerts are held at the Circle of Fun Playground Gazebo, with the newly constructed stage, at the corner of Route 121 and Bunker Hill Road.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket and join your neighbors for a night of relaxed family fun.  In the event of rain, the outdoor concerts will be held at Longmeadow Church hall.

Playdate at the Park

Parents and their little ones are invited to meet at the Circle of Fun playground this summer to let our kids play together while we get to know each other.  Each playdate will have a theme and a special guest to make it even more fun… 

Thursday, July 13th at 10:00 am- Miss Mary from the Griffin Free Library will read a couple stories in the gazebo when then kids need a break from running and playing.  

Thursday, August 3rd at 10:00 am- Our friends at the Auburn Fire Department will stop by with a fire truck for the kids to check out. 

Thursday, August 24th at 10:00 am- “Back to School”.  Summer goes by so fast and it’s time to get our little ones ready for school.   To help ease any back to school fears, the AVS Kindergarten staff as well as administration has been invited to this playdate.  Check back in the August Crier for more specifics on this date. 

Fast Track Summer Running Program

This new running program, led by AVS Cross Country Head Coach and 8th grade teacher, Tim Hamilton, is designed to give student athletes a leg up in all areas of fitness and health for fall sports.  This program is designed to boost endurance and provide an opportunity to enter fall sport in prime condition so all athletes can excel on the course or on the field.  The workouts will be comprised of stretching, conditioning drills, nutrition information, running workouts and active games. 

Schedule:  8:00 – 10:30 am on August 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 23 and 24.

Location:  Meet at the Auburn Safety Complex meeting room

Ages:  This program is designed for students entering grades 5 -8

Price:  Early bird price of $99 before June 10th.  The cost will be $129 after that date.  This price includes instruction, Auburn Fast Track tech wick t-shirt and water bottle

Limit:  There is a limit of 25 participants with a final registration deadline of July 10th.  Don’t delay.  This program could fill up quickly.

Old Home Day

The Auburn Police, Fire and Parks & Recreation Departments have been busy planning the upcoming Old Home Day on Saturday, June 3rd.  (The rain date will be Sunday, June 4th.) The fun starts at 4:00 pm and ends after the fireworks. It will be a great day for all ages.   The day will include…

Face painting……Climbing Wall…..Corn Hole Tournament….K-9 Demos…. the Manchester Mounted Patrol…Emergency Vehicles…the “Seatbelt Convincer”….Dunk Tank …Petting Zoo….Live Music…Crafts and Games…Lots of food….and so much more!!!!

The evening will conclude with a spectacular FIREWORKS display.
