Town of Auburn Library Trustee August 25, 2010 1:10 p.m.
Present: David Griffin, Treasurer; Fay Hanscomb, Secretary; Sharon Bluhm, Alternate Trustee; Edie Cummings, Library Director
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved (Griffin/Bluhm).
David gave the amount made from the Book Sale over $3000. The Treasurer's report was accepted (Hanscomb/Bluhm).
Edie has had problems with all of the computers, she called Alliance but they were not available. John Jawoski (volunteer) was able to get them up and running. He suggested that the library should also have a backup (?) for anti virus. Fay suggested that Edie contact other local libraries and find out who they call for service. We will need a report from her on the next meeting.
The new
cleaning service is working well. Fay contacted the Chester Library's Trustee Board. The Chairperson said she would be interested in attending the meeting in the fall.
Sharon talked with her son about lighting for the cabinet. He suggested that LED lighting would be the best, and would protect the display from light and heat.
A thank you note was sent to Kathleen Nixon for her donation to the library, Ray Garon for his help with advertising the Book Sale, and to Peter Barbuto and his crew.
Paul Nevue replaced the glass on the cabinet door. Another lock needs to be put onto both doors.
Edie will
send a dish garden to Virginia. The trustees are still working on the library asset list.
Fay will need to call the Town Hall to reschedule the budget meeting with the selectman.
David would like permission to move the savings accounts to Granite State Credit. A motioned was made to move them,( Hanscomb/Bluhm)
We received a letter from the Transportation board advising us that our request for a crosswalk in front of the library has been denied. (did not meet criteria)
The doors have not been painted yet.
Lee Anne Chase hasn't gotten back to us as yet with a date for Dennis' dedication.
Edie's Report
The Cub scouts want to donate a “concolar” fir tree to the library. Edie would like to place it in front of the children's room in front of the building. Fay suggested that we first find out how high they grow and maybe find another location. The subject can be revisited at the next meeting.
There is a wasp nest in the trustee's shed, Fay will ask Frank if he can spray them.
Edie would like to put a card table in the front room with an ongoing puzzle.
Mary has planned a few events in the back on the library during the duck race. Fay suggested that Edie call the Town Landscapers and have them cut away anything that is growing over the fence.
The Summer Reading Program was very successful, as well as the stamping class and the talk on Fitzwilliam Inn Keeper.
The Book Shed needs some attention. It seems to be sinking and may need to be lifted.
Fay mentioned that Duffy pointed out that the siding on the side on the window facing the parking lot has become rotted. It will need to be looked at.
The next meeting is scheduled for September 9th @ 1:00.
Meeting adjourned 3:25
